4th of July Home Safety Tips

Posted on by RE/MAX Southern

Fourth of July traditions have changed through the decades, but there is one that has held strong since 1777. One year after the Declaration of Independence was signed, Philadelphia started lighting up the night sky with fireworks. To this day, there’s nothing we look forward to more than fireworks on the beach. In fact, families near and far are likely packing up the kids and heading towards their favorite vacation spot to celebrate our Nation’s independence. If there’s one take away we have learned as Realtors and property managers in Destin is to forgo the tent on the side of the road and opt for a safer, public display of fireworks…

Many of you already know that the Fourth of July has a sort of dangerous stigma attached to it. This is mainly because of the colorful light displays. According to Medical Daily, fireworks are the cause of 20,000 fires each year which average over $32 million a year in property damage and 9,300 serious injuries. We are not trying to infringe on your fun, but rather want to protect you and your loved ones from some serious implications.

If you and your family would like to celebrate Independence Day at home, please follow these fireworks safety tips from the National Council of Fireworks Safety.

On behalf of everyone at RE/MAX Southern, we wish you all a safe and Happy Fourth of July!
