The Billy Bowlegs Pirate FestivalJune 2, 2015
While you may be understandably preoccupied shopping for Destin real estate this weekend, we encourage you to take a break and explore a very fun festival taking place in nearby Fort Walton Beach.
It’s once again time for the Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival, a 60 year tradition on the Gulf Coast. Billy Bowlegs and his merry band of pirates have once again set their sights on capturing the fair city of Fort Walton Beach. Make your way to the Fort Walton Beach Landing to help defend the city and enjoy some family fun, too.
The festival kicks off on June 4, 2015 with an adult pub crawl through downtown, the Party with a Pirate, as well as a pirate walk for the little ones from 4-6pm. On Friday evening, gather at The Landing as Billy makes his first attempt to take the city, which will be followed by live music from Heritage at 8pm and fireworks at 9pm.
On Saturday, Billy will attempt to siege the city yet again and you can enjoy a full day of fun and activities at The Landing. Monday evening, line the streets of Eglin Parkway for the annual Torchlight Parade to watch the lovely floats and krewes go by, as well as catch lots of candy, trinkets and pirate booty! We hope to see you out for the festival this weekend.
